Amr Yasser Zanaty (b. 1994) is an Egyptian painter and printmaker whose practice centres on the human figure, drawing upon scenes of everyday labour and collective life. Rooted in sustained observations of working communities, his work has developed a distinctive visual language in which repetition, compression and distortion transform lived experience into carefully constructed compositions. Beginning with subjects drawn from manual labour, Zanaty’s paintings and etchings explore the physical and rhythmic structures that underpin everyday work. Across both disciplines, repetition functions not only as a formal device but also as a reflection of the cyclical nature of labour itself, with the iterative process of etching reinforcing the gestures and movements it depicts. Figures are gradually elongated, compressed and reconfigured, shifting away from individual likeness towards broader expressions of shared experience. Alongside his studio practice, Zanaty holds a Bachelor of Laws (2018) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Alexandria University (2023). He presented his first solo exhibition, Wusla, at Muluk Gallery, Alexandria, and has participated in exhibitions including the Youth Salon, First Time at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Multi-Vision One Energy at Zamalek Art Gallery.
