Her practice explores geometry, line, memory, transformation, and human connection through painting, sculpture, mixed media, furniture, jewellery, and textiles. Alongside her artistic work, Khalil is actively engaged in art-historical research and archival preservation. She holds a PhD from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, a Master’s degree in Arts Administration and Policy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a Bachelor’s degree from the American University in Cairo. Her work moves between abstraction and figuration, drawing inspiration from Egyptian architecture, traditional crafts, urban life, and cultural memory. Through processes of construction and deconstruction, she transforms line into structure, volume, and form, creating works that connect contemporary visual practice with heritage, design, and material knowledge.
